What to do Before Your Appointment:
-
Rinse your mouth: rinse with warm salt water to help clean out any bacteria and reduce inflammation.
-
Pain relief: over the counter pain relievers and non-prescription medication can provide temporary relief.
-
Topical numbing gels: these can be applied directly to the affected area for temporary relief.
-
Avoid certain foods: try to avoid extremely hot or cold foods and drinks which may exacerbate the pain.
Common Causes of Tooth Ache:
-
Tooth decay: decay caused by bacteria eroding the tooth surface can cause discomfort and pain.
-
Gum disease: inflammation of the gum tissue can lead to pain or swelling in the jaw.
-
Impacted teeth: teeth that have not fully emerged from the gums can cause the surrounding tissue to become inflamed and painful.
-
Abscess: an abscess at the root due to infection can result in severe toothache.
-
Damaged fillings: broken or lost feelings can expose a sensitive part of your tooth, causing pain.
Kind words from our patients
A big thank you to Dr Romanah Ahmed for saving my holiday! 😊
I have taken more than 60 painkillers in the last 10 days, in the meantime I had a wisdom tooth removed and it was only after yesterday's appointment that I felt relief and was able to sleep through my first night without pain. Wonderful feeling! Thank you!
